If you’re not Anguillian, you may have some difficulty reading these posts, much more so if you’re not from the Caribbean at all. That’s because sometime these posts will make use of my Anguillian dialect. Its lexicon and syntax are primarily English, however there are strong influences by a variety of African languages. This is one of the many lasting impacts of the Atlantic slave trade, and I am a descendant of those who survived its atrocities. My language is representative of their endurance, resistance and resilience. As such, I celebrate with its use.
